Could be worse,
The Sox could still have Nomar.
They should have resigned Cabrerra!!!

Is Edgar Renteria The Worst Shortstop Ever?
You guys must be too young to remember Don Buddin
One of the Boston writers joked that he should have ordered "E-6" as his vanity plate
Talk about an "all clank" infield---Buddin at short, Pumpsie Green at 2d, and #^^^^& "Dr Strangeglove" Stuart at 1st. Stuart once got a standing O for picking up a wind-blown hot dog wrapper without dropping it

Remember him? How could you forget him? Averaged nearly 30 errors per year while playing for the Red Sox. Rentaria is a gold glover by comparison.
And Dr. Strangeglove was a piece of work as well. He made some great plays on balls hit to either side. But if a ball was hit directly at him... forget about it.

As I said on the other post people used to bitch about Nomar's defense and he was and is ,when healthy, a much better fielder than Edgar and a much better hitter esp. for power than Edgar ever dreamed to be. He has been disapointing all around. Maybe he will feel more comfortable next year. Nice when you can suck and still make millions. Paul

I will keep Renteria over a healthy Nomore anyday! I thought all of the Hall Of Fame talk about Nomore was too premature...and I was right.....he is about done! Even if he turns it around he will never reach the hall.....I never was a big Nomore fan! Steroids for sure!

I would have to disagree. I would take a healthy Nomar over Edgar without a doubt. I will say I wasn't thrilled with his attitude most of the time, the personality of a wet sock, but he was a hell of a player when healthy. Paul
