Danny Swimmer idea.

Ok, Danny swimmers are good lures right? What's the one complaint though?

They don't cast far! That's the problem. So I was looking at and I was thinking of the aero dynamics. The two things I come up as the problems are how the tail is shaped and the metal lip.

The tail shape. It's flat. I don't know why it is like that. It doesn't cut the wind at all. Any of you lure makers think about giving it a rounded ball type back? That would surely cut the wind better. Or better yet, a pointed end?

Now here is my radical idea for the lip. The lip shoots out pretty far right? That causes a lot of drag. Any of you guys sailboaters? If you take a look at a sailboat's racing prop, you will note that it folds in so when the vessel is under wind power, it creates less drag. When you start the kicker up, centrifigal force causes the prop to spread open.
My lip idea works on the same princple. Basically, where the lip bends, we put a little hinge. When the hinge is fully opened, it is in the position that you would have when you recieve the lure. But when you cast, the lip flips up towards the line. It will try to find the most aerodynamic shape. Your lure falls down in the water, you start your retrieve, the lip digs in and goes where it is supposed to go.

I think the tail shaping and the lip thing would allow to make casting far with a dannyswimmer possible.

I'm trying to find a little hinge made out of stainless steel, surgical steel if possible. Just think, I might change the face of surffishing, for the better hopefully.

Do you really want to mess with that lovely wobble?? What would keep the lip down on the retrieve? A slow retrieve through the water will certainly cause enough resistance to flip the lip up anyway... Besides, why would you want to pay $30 for a "Modified, Centrifugal lipped, Aerodynamic Danny Swimmer"? Save your self some time and experiment drilling holes into the plug at even points along the centerline where small points of lead can be added to just enough increased weight without completely ruining the action...
