I couldn't stand PP on the conventional, for the reasons you mentioned.

But then again, if you're casting as hard as you can...that could be the issue as well!

Nope; had problems with PP on my VS250, but I have it on a 525Mag, and it's behaving great; I was tossing 3.5oz jigs into the wind sat. night and had no problems, and I canth throw much harder than that!

Mono says Flaptail ~~~~~~~~~~

What strength and brand do mono users recommend?

I have 30# Ande mono on a big Baitrunner and it casts like a wet towel.

Thank you,
Mike

Lost 3 plugs, two real nice ones one night in rhody in a large surf. The bowling ball size boulders in the wash were getting tossed around and as the line (50 pp) went slack as the wash pushed the line up on the beach, the boulders would roll across and cut it. I still use 50 pp on spinners and 80- whiplash on my 7000 Abus (almost out though )

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.

leader connection thru the guides

Hey Guys,

I just spooled up my spare spool with PP to try on my shimona stradic. Mine broke off too going thru the guides. Maybe it was my knot, I tied a reverse albright, maybe I didnt tie a good enough knot.

Anyone using PP on spinning have success with this? Which know do you use.

Thanks, Jeff

I recently read a post/article and starting using improved clinch knots for braid. No problems, easy to use.

fish4- try using a swivel then 3' of leader material. I found no matter how well you tie a knot to leader material it will hit one of the guides. causing the braid to kick back and slow your cast down or worse. the braid is what you want flying through your guides.

why are you guys reeling the knot through the guides? I typically use a swivell, but sometims uni-uni, however in both circumstances, I never reel either through the eye, and if by mistake I do, I ease it back out. I typically use a 3-5 foot flouro leader, 30/40/50 test depending. At night i always use the swivell, that way i can here it go through the guide, although I usually have a prety good idea where it is.

When I bridge fish I use 80 lb braid(kitestring) an 40-65 lb leader depending on the water clairity.I have used a uni to uni to make the connection.Never ever had it fail on me.I have had times when hung up it took 2 of us to break it off. This is extreme fishing in a 6 kt current.
For rocks i have pinged some 30's off the rocks with Fireline I have broke about everything else.
Skitter u can tro 30 lb mone on a conventional. But its to thick for spinning.Try 20 lb or even 15.Guys like ande backcountry.I have use big game for yrs. Last yr i dragged a 34 lber around a rock with it.it took the bait an went down i fought him the whole time around the rock on a loose line when i killed him a dragged him back.

when you use conventional tackle, the line peels through the guides much smoother than spinning.... if you switch over, you wont have that problem.
