I don't want to re-start this old thread but,I just don't by Al's story, I know a lot of guys here like him and I don't know the man, never have met him and have nothing against him other than I don't believe his story. I think he was all about how much $ he can make off this record. I don't like the taste of that and I think it created some issues surrounding the catch.

Any fish that is that huge will draw suspicion. Theres suspicions about a nice fish caught in newport last year. Im not buying that suspicion, but jealousy draws out doubt and thats when the facts get over analized. The fact is, unless you have witnesses you dont know you wo saw you land that fish you will be doubted by some.
Sucks really.. i know i would die to catch the next world record, but the BS could haunt you for the rest of your life.

My friend "Donny" drives a liquor truck out to the cape (thats his "route")
He knows Tony. Tony let him hold "Bertha" and took a polaroid. Donny has that pic framed on the wall in his bar. It's not a good pic (kinda dark). I think he would let me scan it but I don't know Tony but I might ask Donny if he would mind. The girth on that fish is even bigger than my fat belly and thats saying alot.

strperman... who does Donny drive for??, I probably know him, I'm in the liqour store across the street from Tony S.'s... Chas. Gilman and sons, if it's the Donny I'm thinking of, although they are owned by Martinegti (sp) now, I think...
That picture is Tony Stetzko (striperman on a few b-boards, altho he hardly posts anymore) and his 73 pounder, the morning after he caught it... Tony Chirappo took the picture, and the fish went off to Wally Brown in Falmouth who did the mount... Tony lets a lot of guys take Bertha out into the parking lot and have their way with her in front of a camera... there is 3 mounts of Bertha, one in his shop, one at his dads house, and there used to be one at the Goose, I think Tone has that one back now
