I usually only keep the ones that won't swim away healthy.
I kept about 6 this year.
None were wasted.

I was good for 3 bass and about half dozen blues.

No fluke this year.Last year I caught a bunch of fluke using a yellow/white bomber while plugging for bass.

I keep one large at the beginning of the season for the grill and the freezer. I have an uncle that I always get one for as well. I have a friend who likes to do bloos in his smoker, so if I get a chopper, it goes to him. Any and all legal sized black sea bass are kept. Everything else gets released, unless it doesn't survive the battle.

I think i kept 4 tops. my neighbors love bass, so i filet and release to them when they ask me if i could bring one home. One of my neighbors trades me fluke and littlenecks for striper.. cnat beat that

I'll take cod, fluke, tog, and especially seabass over striper any day of the week.
