I slept on June 27th
Yup,
I slept through the big blitz at RP...my second day of a week's vacation after opening the busiest Bugaboo Creek to date.
Mikey and I did ok the day before, and the day he went out I just couldn't get out of bed (my girlie was leaving that day for Boston, so I spent some time with her...OOPS).
Anyhow, the rest of the week, I caught more keepers in six days then the rest of my life combined.
Mikey and I talked about it the other day...didn't have one short all week.
Later,
Rick

It was late this September. I was out for the night and had already burned two spots from 22:00 to about 1:30. I had to be back at the barn by six and the drive would take an hour and a half so I had about 2.5 left. On a whim I went to a very public spot for a quick visit. Not a car or a soul there. I sparked up a butt and went to the wash to look for bait. I stood in the wash for about two waves feeling something like rocks banging into my waders. I turned on the light and saw the entire oceans worth of mullet being rolled around. I turned to go get my rod and saw a huge swirl about 30 feet off the beach. I RAN back to the truck mumbling something about 'why I didn't come here earlier'? As I am walking back the beach explodes with splashes and swirls and a noise like wiffle ball bat being used to smack the water. I fished right up until the last minute dragging a 37" home (one of many). The action was furious with one cast producing a keeper, then next a 2 lb blue, the next a 28" and the next a 12lb blue. I lost at least two rigs, several flies (I switched to a fly rod after awhile) and a total of five plugs (two plugs had the hooks ripped off). And not another rod on the beach but mine.

The "Canal Blitz" this past October. Hours of non-stop bass. It was an incredible sight. It was odd, I was coming back from an all-nighter on the back beaches, but something made me get off route 6 and take a swing by the east end......Glad I did!

Won't forget that night anytime soon. I think all of us were more excited than he was. Of course he was probably in shock.

I have 2:
1) Vineyard Sound early October: Sandman and his better half in his boat. Me and mine in my boat. Drift after drift of large bass on live eels. Got my personal best that night of 32 lbs.
2) East of Chatham late August: Trolled up my first bluefin tuna, 42 lbs. Coincidentally it was Sandman that tipped me off on where to go.
I probably would have had 3 but I missed the bus the night Leo won the derby, however for a good cause. I was working the filet table at the weigh shack and showed up to the spot late. I couldn't find anyone and ended up fishing alone. Took a nasty fall and came back to the house empty handed to the site of a cooler full of monster bass including Leo's 45.

Back in Oct. on a Sat. night, 1 -39in.
1-36in.
1-28in.
Went back the next night,Sun. 2-39in. all stripers, all on bait ...and all were released. To think about it later ,I was wondering if I caught that 39in.fish 3 times,or maybe it hungry or just plain stupid .

Geeze, I'm sorry, Slingah! I think that I'm starting to lose it, what ever "IT" was. I thought that Larry was gonna adopt that little seal, didn't you?
