Cool Cars We've Owned...

the motorhead thread brought back memories. what have you had for cool cars, past and/or present? had a '69 roadrunner convertible, ya a real one, '58 '66 '72 corvettes, couple of sunbeam tigers, a '70 mach one.

Cool AH... was that 69 a hemi?

70 MACH 1... had a friend with one of those, real neck snapper.

My first, 64 Tempest, 326, crane 3/4 race cam, Edelbrock intake, Holley 650 dual feed double pumper, Heddman Headers, Thrush pipes, bored .30 over, over size intakes and exhausts, Accel coil and dual point distrubutor, M22 4 gear out of a wrecked W30 olds, 411 posi rear gear, homegrown custom paint, Cragar slotted chrome rims.
waaay too much take home pay and time for a 17 year old... kept me busy had a few others, and a lot of cool beach buggys, but ya never forget your first.

1972 Jeep CJ5 w/ a '1985 350
3 speed stick, full roll cage, 33"-12.5" if you didn't blow the U joint you could stand it up in a wheely for about 10'....Some of the best days in my life were spent in that Jeep

someday, I will do one all over again

Used hard and put away dirty....

My cars were the polar opposite of cool

70 Chevy Malibu w/ a 307

74 Fix-It-Again-Tony 128

74 Buick Apollo w/ a 350

74 AMC Hornet w/ a 232 straight 6. Probably the best of the lot.

78 Dodge Aspen with a slant 6. Not the original, but a "Super Slant"

96 Chevy Lumina, 3.1 V-6

Trucks, on the other hand, were more interesting

72 Kaiser Waggy, w/ the AMC 360, TH 400 tranny and a Dana 20 T-case. My all-time favorite beach ride.

78 K-5 Blazer. Had a 350 w/ headers, but it had been beat to crap towing.

89 Isuzu Trooper. Nothing cool about it, but it lasted 10 years, 215,000 miles and went thru almost anything.

99 Cherokee Sport. I never should have let my ex talk me into turning it back in at the end of the lease

02 Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport, w/ the 4.0 straight 6. Current ride. Only good thing about it is the engine. Tranny has been a major headache

'69 Road Runner w/440 Magnum, 4 speed, 6 pack. Was my first car. I bought it as a totaled wreck at the auto auctions. My best friends uncle had a body shop and he did the work to the car as well as a '70 Chevelle that my friend picked up at the same time. $1800 initial cost, then another $800 or so in work and I was ripping up the streets. God my father hated that car. He swore I was going to kill myself in it. I almost did!
'67 Chevelle SS w/396, 4 speed. Close to 430hp. Got the front end off the ground without a problem. This one was a total resto, frame up. All original.
A couple of Harley's including one custom built from scratch by me. 1980 Shovel head Big Twin. Paugho hardtail frame, wide glide front end, fatbob tanks, and jockey shift. Sweet.

The future ain't what it used to be. --Yogi Berra

The camper in particular is a speed demon, with water tanks, pop-top, and the kitchen.

Those were great engines, a lot more fun in a tiny Porsche with big carbs though.
