Clean up with sandpaper, plug holes with whittled match sticks and epoxy, drill your weight holes (if you're good you'd do this before bandsawing, but that's too much for me) and off to the sealer.

Another view.
Takes a while, and you're not going to turn out big numbers, but its worth a try, the shape possibilities are interesting. Good luck.

You do not need to tape the block together, cut the side view and put the template on top of that and mark for the cut

Excellant thread numbskull, worthy of putting in the favorites.

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.
1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!
It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Good stuff If you are doing flat sided ones, like the ones I do, you can just cut the side profile out, then use a beltsander to knock the edges of the top and bottom. Just have to have a good eye to keep things even. You can also take a section of PVC pipe, section it longwize, then glue some sandpaper in it to create a sanding block. Keep the blank level as you sand it and it will be sanded evenly on all sides.
