The issue with the lateral lines is some genetically "different bass" were stocked/released to my understanding. Not sure which state this occured, most likely south of here, NJ, Penn, DE.?
These hybrids apparently have been mixing their genes successfully for a number of years.
Caught tons of these fish over the years. Not sure if these have any other different characteristics other than altered lateral lines.
This info came off jetties in NJ at least ten years ago.
