There are a few production rods on the market that will handle wire line Daiwa Sealine SG72C has Fuji Silicone carbide Guides they will not grove with wire and this rod is about the lightest rod in it's class. Most of the comercial guys out of our shop run it.
The most affordable rod is the Bill Fisher wire line rod it has Carbide guides and top & cosmetics are great !
as far as reels Penn 500L aluminum spool is a good reel quick change spools, aluminum spool will corode if wire is not removed over the winter.other reels include the penn's 112H ,113H ,113HSP & 330 GTI.
