I went through the verification process with paypal. Its not a big deal, but, as the others have said, make surre that you are really dealing with paypal before you send them your bank info. The process is pretty simple, you send them you bank info and they deposit some small amount like 22 cents into your checking account, then you tell them how much they deposited and PRESTO! you are verified.

Just like makomike said. Don't go through a link though. Type in paypal.com on your address bar. This way you know you are hooked up to them directly.

YES - ABSOLUTE. YOU need to initiate any computer communications with PayPal - NEVER put account info in an e-mail. Always enter the account information into the screen and only when the the address starts witrh http s:// and with PayPal....l |

Yup it's normal. I went through it a year or two ago.
As suggested, be wary of unsolicited links that get emailed to you that mention paypal though. I just deleted another one telling me paypal is verifying accounts and asked me to sign in to verify my info. They are getting clever.
