Lathe center should be about elbow high for best results. If that lathe grabs your chisel it will take off like a rocket .......

Oh Man, now yer screwed. No turning back. First its turning every scrap of wood in sight(Honey!!? Do we really need that chair??). Then No sleep thinking of this shape and that, this color, weight here, weight there etc. etc.. Then since maybe your wife leaves for work after you do, you secretly call in sick, shower, get dressed, make like your leaving for work, stop and get coffee, hit the tackle supply, go back home when your sure she's gone for work, and putz around with wood and paint and stuff, clean up before she gets home. She'll never know. Um, no, I never did that!
seriously,Nice looking plug, looks like you got it down well. Wish my first few looked that good. Another suggestion, some type of respirator or HEPA mask would be a good idea. lotsa dust flying around , especially when sanding on the lathe. And how did ya stay so clean?? My wife comes out to my cave once in a while to make sure I didn't get lost in the pile of sawdust, she calls me "CedarStein".

Last Cast, No, Really!

Your first attempt looks good!
One suggestion; get a full face shield and wear a respirator! It's cheap insurance.
