Walking the dog works best if you can keep your rod tip down. Reel at a steady speed and make a series of jerks with the rod tip. Long, slow jerks will give a wide "arc" to the lure, short quick jerks will cause the lure to move back in forth quickly and in a narrow path.

Experiment in calm water. Easiest to do off of a boat where you can keep your rod tip pionted at the water.

Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.
