It really depends on the size of the body. Large I am gonna go with NEBE! Smaller like some I make I go with 2/0.

I can't remember too many bass that I've gotten on the ass hook ,but those toothy bastages are a different story. That's why I am considering going sans hook on the posterior.I picked up a lot of beachmaster dannies and the 4's look good but the Nebe suggestion warrants looking in to.Never want to go underprepared into battle cuz that 50 could be behind the next rock!

dangles, i love a good bloofish fight so thats why i use the 5/0 on my dannies, but if you just use a bucktail with no hook, it will improve the action greatly, especially if you are crawling it in super slowly..
Stainless screw eyes are perfect for tail dressings.. the threads really hold the material in place.

Medium Beachmasters for instance should only be fished with 2/0's and a 5/0 rear end dressed siwash.
|
Why even try.........

Use the hooks like any other tool in ur arsenal.I have found the Beachmasters to be on the heavy side.to crawl em on top in flat water u will need 2/0's.bigger surf u could go bigger on the front.Same with trowin em in the breachways there are heavier hooks u can use also like the owners.on danny's wit 2 hooks i like no hook on the tail just dressing. To some this may seem like overkill.I got alot of lures i dress em accordingly an fish em as the situation dictates.Yea its good to be prepaired when mr.big comes along but how do u know he was there all along an decided not to take ur offering...

for the beachmaster dannys I'v always gone 3/0 in front w/ a dressed 5/0 siwashed in the rear,I'll have to try the 2/0 in front and see the difference.

Always crimp the barbs on the rear belly hook.
