It pays to look around. I agree with MakoMike on this one. Most home insurance co.s do a poor job when it comes to boats. Look for a company that actually does boats. I use an office on the cape, Almeida & Carlson Ins Agency . So far so good and their rates are a few hundred cheaper then Boat US.

I have not tried progessive but I think boat us (although I am a member for unlimited towing) is expensive for ins.

What you really want to make sure you are covered for is an oil spill and salvage. The cost of these will dwarf what your boat is worth.

I also have been with Almeida and Carlson as they know the business and are very friendly and efficient. I had one incident and was taken care of with no hassle. I opted for an additional $40 to cover an additional $400.00 in towing to go with their $400 already on the policy ($800 total ). This just about gets we back home from Vineyard Sound/Gay Head.
