Our paper guy is pretty reliable. We pay for the entire year including his tip all at once. I figure the times we're away and have him cancel delivery is money in his pocket. Anyway, every year the guy sends out a page long letter making you feel bad and actually asking people to be generous if they decide to give him a holiday tip. This guy has never missed a delivery, which is amazing since he's had about six different diseases, some life threatening situations, one year he developed dyslexia, another year it was vertigo, this year he claimed he got carpul tunnel from flipping papers out his car window.
The mailman is no better. He's the first to leave a Christmas card in our mailbox (without a stamp on it), yet whenever we're home during the day, it's never him who delivers the mail. I haven't figured that one out yet.

hmm Karl, sounds fair. Mailman is a different story, tip him real good as i always get the right mail, has to climb slippery steps snow or rain and even brings the paper up if he happens to see it in the bushes.
