I received a reply from Paul Michele of Yo-Zuri. Here's what it said...

Robert,
We received and read your email. Where did you hear this information? It is not entirely true. Also if you like and sell our products do to personal and consumer demand why do you feel it is necessary to drop the entire line? Even if it is a 5% increase you make that much more product on an item that already sells….

I would certainly like to hear more from you and your opinion.

Not sure where he got the impression I was a retail store...although I'd like to be

I deleted the response I got last month from Yo Zuri but the answer I got said the increase was true & due to price of the internal balls, and the rep apologized for the increase but said it was necessary.

I got the same response from him word for word.
I showed him were the increases were. And he did not deny it. The facts are the whole line up did only go up 60% just the mags. Most other saltwater lures took a 22%-30% increase. The freshwater lures only took a 5% jump.

The price hike on the Mag Darter is what I'm most upset about too. A 3 ounce version of that thing would be incredible.

Interesting that there are not any Yo-Zuri knock-offs? They must be hooked up with the Tong.

Yo Zuri is speculating that their brand loyalty will offset the loss of some vendors. Nothing is spontaneous with them. Most shops will just passively raise prices.

Note how the prices raised were not across the board, but very targeted: with the highest percentage increases on the products for which there is very little competition and a high degree of brand preference for Yo-Zuri. The Mag Series has been out for a while and has beaten down the competition and made a lot of believers. I'm not a fan of corporate greed, but I suspect they got a lot of people very convinced they need a Mag Minnow or Mag Darter. They'll get letters and lose a few shops - but they will most likely be successful in gouging their customers.

I got a response from Yo-Zuri, they say the ifo we have received is incorrect and they were worried that I was mad about the situation. They gave no explanation of what is happening and so I e-mailed them back to ask that they clear up and inconsistencies and also asked them to please come out with a 7 inch series Tobimaru, Mag minnow/darter and Crystal Minnow as well. We will see.

Why even try.........

I got a Basspro Inshore catalog yesterday and was just thumbing through it.

8" Surface Cruiser=$21.95!

How about them Daiwa Saltigas.$18.95

A much better quality Superstrike plug can be had for almost half the cost of the Yo-zuri.
