To make better decisions, applying what I have been able to learn and discern from others and my own experiences, which will hopefully lead to catching on a more consistent basis.

40 #'er.

More importantly I would like to learn some new haunts. I want to get to a place where I can fish 2 maybe 3 different locations in a night and expect to find fish in each based on the tides.

For me
Breaking the 50lb mark would be great (mid 40s best so far )
And to break the 100lb mark for tuna would be great
hope also to go surf fishing with some friends !!!

But what I enjoy the most is watching my boys catch
so,
my 8 year son Leo breaking the 20lb bass mark (he's come close ! )
and surpassing his 12 bluefish mark from last year!
And my 5 year old son Matty will be fishing more with us this year!

Also, hoping for a very busy charter season !

Goals

Take a 40# plus on wood, have done it on live and dead pogies years ago from boat, but would prefer to get back on the big girl dates all on foot. Get to Cutty this year, and get back down to South Florida for more tarpon on the fly rod, it's the greatest fishing ever.

Oh yeah!, win the powerball for $365 million so I can fish whenever and wherever I want knowing the family is taken care of and I don't have to worry about the man -- just win the damn lottery so I can fish all day, every day, where ever and when ever and how ever.

Put a giant on the deck this year. Explore areas that I really don't have an intimate fishing knowledge of, and get better in some areas/styles of fishing that I am not real proficient at.

Be careful what you wish for...

Just imagine, a dark night all is quiet except the pounding of the surf. The spray is in your face and it its a perfect 68 degree night.....The fish aren't cooperating, but you don't care, just being out here is what its about anyways.......Then from the still dark it comes.....

"Your Awfully Quiet Tonight"
"Is Something Bothering You"
"You Seem Distant"
"Did I Do Something"
"We Haven't Talked Much Lately"
And so on...and so on...and so on

RaiderRon, I would like to meet up with that guy (fishinfreak) off of Chatham some time for some bluefin action...he sounds like he is really connected out there. Was he at the TFCTF night? I must have missed him.

GB, stay away from my fluking grounds!!! IT IS MY PERSONAL SPOT!!! NO ONE ELSE CAN FISH IT EXCEPT ME!!
Re: your dad, Last summer my 83 year old father-in-law was visiting and after a nice day fluking wanted to go bluefishing, well it was a perfect morning the next day and we ran further then I told my wife we were going and we got into a mixed bag of bluefin, bones, an albie and a few bluefish. The look on his face when the tuna hit was priceless. It was only about 28# but he had a ball with it. Grilled it up that night for dinner with a side of lobster, and he told me that this was the best day on the water and fishing he had ever seen as he wiped the wasabe off his cheek.... that meant the world to me considering we didn't hit it off originally when I stole is eldest daughter. All I can say is your dad will really appreciate the effort. Pick a nice day, take the time off and just do it.
(PS If you want to take your dad fluking, PM me for the numbers for the address of some doormats, it is not that far from your bassing grounds and you fish it in the daylight)

Survive the 1000 mile journey to Maine(with wife and kids) and then spend time at the beach catching (and releasing) stripers. 40" on a plug would be a pipe dream...............
