The 6" ones are dynamite in a rip from shore. I still use them regularly. Fish them by sweeping the rod, then reeling back to pick up line, pause, sweep, reel, pause, WHAM!

Capt Ron Murphy of Osterville MA, who runs the charter boat "Stray Cat" out of Hyannis was lucky enough to know Capt Sabatowski of the famous "June Bug" on which Carlie Cinto caught hyis 73 pound bass. Capt Murphy was presented with a cache of Capt Sabatowski's plugs when he passed away by his widow.

They are all, except for a Gibbs GTS, Goo-Goo Eye plugs. All had been modified in some way. A number were grooved for an eelskin and most were drilled through and re-wired rather than the screw eyes. The predominant colors are blue and all black. I have never seen an all black Goo Goo other than these. All are the largest size.
Interesting stuff to look at and the re-rigging says it all on how he knew waht worked and why and that he was targeting big fish. All were trolled on wire.

Just thought this would interest you.

Why even try.........

Spray em w/ white paint and let it get worn away, so the colors show through in spots, this was a simple mod that my neighbor used to do, trolled on wire line deep it earned him quite a few 50#+ fish and a couple 60's back in the hey day.

Beer is the reason we get up each afternoon.

Flap, I've seen a couple all black goo goo's here and there, but not many. I think they were all the 6" size though. Last one I saw I got on eBay as a gift for a friend that collects them.
