Why did it take so long for the seccurity guard to call the coast guard? Why did it take so long to get a search party out there?

thats why they call it fishing not catching

Since they called off the rescue efforts, I don't think there is much hope as previously mentioned. Prayers and thoughts go out to the families and friends of these kids and I hope they get as much closure as they can.

After reading the excerpt about that, hindsight I am sure he wish he had but on foggy nights when the bay is realtively calm and a small wind from the SE and the fog it brings, you can sometimes hear noises from clear across the bay. I think it is reasonable that the secuirty guard heard noises like this in the past and not heard anything to cause initial alarm. Now the season is wrong, but even now, some activity happens at night on the bay so hearing voices, while maybe unusual at this time of year would not cause a call to authorities...
