That is a no brainer. The one fly you have to have is a Chartruse and White clouser. When I first started fly fishing this was one of the only flies I could tie and caught a lot of fish on it. I think part of what you 'have' to have depends on where you fish too. I fly fish primarily the mid to outer cape for the most part and Sand Eels are the predominent bait fish. So currently if you peek in my fly box you will find it full of Juro's Super Sand Eel which is kind of a modified clouser. I use synthetic super hair so I can tie them up to six inches as the Capes' sand eels get huge. The reason this is kind of a modified clouser is that the dumbell eyes are just heavy enough to turn the fly over and not really imparting the typical jigging action of the clouser. Favorite color is Olive and white with a seafoam green flash. I am not the best tier around but they get the job done. In addition to these I carry some larger profile flies for the outer beaches too. I like Page Rogers Big Eye baitfish pattern, the Rhodie Flatwing and the Buffy fly which originated over at flyfishsaltwaters.com. Two other flies I always carry are the Ray's Flie and the Bonito Bunny. The Ray's fly is a must have and is real easy to tie. The bonito bunny gets a lot more attention in August and September when the False Albacore and Bonitos' are present.
Any way I hope this helps and if you haven't already I highly recommend you read Striper Moon by Kenny Abrames and his other book which I believe is a perfect fish (someone correct me here if I am wrong) and Stripers & Streamers by Ray Bondorew. These are locally written and provide a wealth of information on techniques that I still refer to utilize.
