waters still to cold for them to be chaseing much...52 outside n. beach
Yeah, We were outside of south beach Friday afternoon and for a while Saturday afternoon and water is still cool out there. Much warmer in pleasent bay. Summer south beach pattern not really happening yet but we found numerous groups of terns working over pods of blues working sand eels in the 3-4 inch size. A lot of the pods of blues would go down when we were able to get within casting range. We caught blues from 2-8lbs and they all coughed up sand eels in large quantities. Not a bass to be found even when we let our weighted sluggos sink below the blues on the bottom. By the way sluggo chunks work on blues too ;-). Saturday afternoon around 5 the wind let up and blues were all over on top by the Chatham cut outside. I lost a few flies to them and it was fun but still no bass. Only bass we caught were on weighted sluggos up in pleasent bay.
