There are spots in Maine that are among my most favorite places on earth. I've found it easy to find and hook fish there throughout the summer and very early fall. Hitting the migration is a bit more tricky though. The only problem with Maine is trying to narrow down your options - the whole freaking coast is so fishy looking it is amazing. Further south in Mass, RI, CT Etc. we all tend to congregate at spots with a jetty or a rocky outcropping or whatever it is that catches our eye. Maine has so many rocks, beaches, inlets, rivers, bays, estuaries etc etc - that you just have to pick a spot and go. I once stayed above mid coast Maine at a house that was on a bay. I had no idea what would happen, but the very first night I tossed some sluggos into the rocks and was into fish.

I love Maine - can you tell?
