Waterproof Camera
What's the retail on the Pentax Optio WP? I had the yellow Minolta waterproof camera, got it back in 1989 or 1990. It was an excellent little camera -- took underwater photos, photos in the rain, no problem. Had it around my neck during a kayak trip last summer, fell off the yak and the camera decided to no longer be waterproof and died on the spot. It was a good 15 years of photo taking so while it was sad to see it go, I got good use out of it. I have been looking for a replacement, not very aggressively. This could be a good replacement. Is it a common camera that I can find pretty much anywhere? Thanks

Waterproof Camera
I have a nice Canon EOS 35 mm camera as well, but to be honest, not keen on the waterproof housings -- although thousands of photographers use them day-in and day-out, I don't want the hassle of worry about whether or not I closed the case properly or whatever. Having a waterproof camera is easy, and I don't want to hold up my fishing to ensure my camera is housed properly, having a waterproof one avoids that concern.

whoops, pic didn't post, anyway, you get the idea and I agree that it is kind of a gamble to put a nice camera in a waterproof housing. I noticed that some come with a one year "flood" warentee. But I bet it doesn't cover human error of not closing the thing correctly.

I'm loving the Cannon s80 camera and also too have pelican case - submerged with camera and cell phone in there, nothing - air tight and a good investment imo...
