Used to have a 28 foot Bayliner. It was new and it only got about 2 miles to the gallon at cruise. Now I have a Land Yacht 5.4 Expedition gets about 16 average. Last Jeep Cherokkee I had with the V-6 got 10 mpg....it sucked. Find a Tracker or Sidekick they get about 24 mpg.
I had to add:
Get rid of those one piece sticks. The new 2 piece surf rods are great. You don't have to worry about theft, just lock them up! St. Croix's are super. I'll never go back to making my own, except for boat rods.

2004 4.0 5spd, 17-18mpg. You can get 20 if you are very light on the fun pedal. You don't buy em for the gas mileage. My last wrangler with a 4.2 5spd got 12-14 mpg till I trashed it.

Short wheelbase=easy to tip over.... Lost a good friend in a Bronco2 when we rolled over in 78. No good.

Guess the Wrangler is out. I want to try to get something that gets in the 20's. I want 4wd and be able to tow a small trailer and be able to fit 10' rods in it, asking for too much?

4 cylinder Tacoma maybe. Even the auto should get around 20 if you don't ride it too hard. Fitting rods "in it" may be a challenge though. With a cap on the back you should be able to open the back window in the cab and shoot them through.

Larry,
I was in the back seat, got blown out rear hatch. 2/11/78 two days after Blizzard. Hit a snowbank and we were over, with 35 gallons of fuel that ignited. Yeah, alchohol was involved. Was my junior year at UMass.... I don't need to argue my opinion, it's not going to change.

But your opinion is of a first hand bad experience with a Bronco 2....not a Jeep. They are different vehicles and as I said its all about how you drive them.

Almost time to get our fish on!!!
