Absurd amount of Bass

I don`t think I`ve ever seen so many fish on the top before. Launched in prov at 4:30 and ran toward Conimicut, hoping to find some larger fish. Nada, so I started working my way back up by the yatch clubs. By the time I got to Save the Bay I still hadn`t seen a fish. Looking across the river I could see splashes, flat like a mirror, I thought they were pogies but no they were all bass. For as far up and down the shore as you could see were school after school after school of fish, all on top. They disapeared when the current died so I pulled the boat, picked up my mother in law dropped her off and now need to catch a couple hour nap so I can go back at 3 for the high turn. Just a guess but I would be close saying I had close to 150 on a chartruse and white half+half, and I still got a whole tide to go.

Where`d they go? Went back for the afternoon turn out and only managed to scrape up 3 fish. But whereas this mornings fish were all dinks, this afternoons fish were 3 cookie cutter 13lb`ers. What a differance a single tide can make!

Just got back from fishing very similar conditions.Looked like Fall out there schools of bass everywhere, birds going crazy. It was a lot of fun even if the fish weren't large.

They were back today but even more. Some nice fish in the mix. I had to quit at noon, I absolutly could not drag in another fish on my fly rod.
