Gypsy Moths

They have hatched out in the last two days and are getting ready to eat going to be bad again in my neck of the woods. I am on a waiting list to get sprayed but most likely they won't get to me because of the volume of people he has. P.

What about winter moths ? They are supposed to eat all the trees on the cape in the next couple years, right ?

Yup. They have been. Along the southeastern coast too. We have them too but not as heavy as the gypsy's though. Also a lot of tent cat. damage too. I have seen heavy infestation so far. Tell tale webs in trees now. P.

Stop at your local farm supply store and pick up a hose end sprayer ($20), not your standard Miracle Gro sprayer, although it may work and a bottle of BT (+/-$10) and have at em'. Cant remember what the BT stands for, Bacterium something? The sprayer I picked up has a dial to regulate the product and a hoze type nozzle that will spray in a fan or a jet to reach higher. Of course if you had a pressure washer........

Update: Washed the boat Friday am, not a catapiller in sight, just looked at it this am, covered with baby Gypsy moths and their droppings!

Same here...noticed them yesterday! Hosed off my waders and hung them outside to dry and awhile later they were crawling on them....hose them off again and hang them in the garage!!! They are a pain in the ass!

Almost time to get our fish on!!!

best thing to do.... metal wheelbarrow... put them and the nest in there... and burn them... the spray isn't all that effective...

Gypsy Moths

Diazinon is the answer. Use on the spayers that doesn't have the per ounze per gallon dial. Use the one the has the long nozzle and allows the spray to go 20' or higher if the prssure is up. Put four ounzes of Daizinon per 8 gallons and you'll kill them little bastidges...........Liquid Sevin also works real good with the one galons spayers one ounze per gallon. The Sevin is a little thick to get it to miz really well in the long nozzle spayers but it does a good job too.
