Wow!!! That was some fishing today!!! Last night I broke my second rod in week trying to push a cast past the middle with a 3 ounce lure. I ordered a honey lami 3M. See if that holds up. I have snapped a total of 5 lami's (1Ls and 1Ms) within the last year. Each time I was trying to force a cast on breaking fish. Anyone else have this problem?

This morning the Canal Gods took pity on me and let me catch many keepers, several over 40". All on topwater. Man - I love custom carved wood.

This afternoon a spry young fella took a 49" 35#. Tip of the hat to him for big fish of the day.

Talking Great AM!

I was at the canal also and caught several keepers. I saw a few nice fish. My biggest was 42 inches I wish I would have brought my scale and a camera. But If I did I would have gotten skunked. But on the way home a picked up a waterproof disposable to put in my bag for a rainy day . It is my first spring fishing for stripers and my biggest stiper so far. And hopefully many more to come.

This mornings catch was excellent by any measure except for yesterday. Numerous fish on top, but all in the 30 to 35" size range. Tomorrow may be the last day for the wood throwing crowd until the next set of tides in two weeks. Wow did ever come down this morning! As soon as the rain letup just before first light, the fish appeared.
