Swimmin' for my Mac plug.
Before I begin let me say this:Mac's Canal pencil is the balls!Casting that thing is like hitting a homer over the Green Monster! And the action is awesome!
Anyway while fishing lastnight I plugged with it on my 1088 and it was just a little to much plug for that rod.So this morning I broke out my 10' Quarrow/704 and walked down to the beach to launch a few casts. My 704 is bailess and it was my first time out with it this year. I'm getting into it launching this plug halfway to freakin Tiverton. As you know with a bailess 704 you gotta pay attention to where that roller stud is at...well I didn't and SNAP!I saw where it landed and off with the shoes and into the water I go!Good thing it floats straight up.It was out there bobbin' like a buoy.
Moral of the story is pay attention and some plugs are worth swimming for!

Actually at the old stone bridge I'll bet you could launch it 1/2 way to Tiverton

Definitely an exaggeration on my part but really I couldn't get over how far I can cast this plug!
Its a good the line broke when it did.If it had snapped at the height of the cast it literally would've ended up in the middle of the river. This plug is an absolute missle.

I havent done that too often for salt water - been fortunate
However - years ago I had this small cotton cordell chartruse crankbait.... This thing was absolutely magical. It did not matter how asleep the fish were, or what we were using as bait. I put this thing on and watch out.
I went thru MANY a crazy expirience pl#^^^^^&g that thing out of brush piles, trees, weeds, rocks... I didnt care how muddy/nasty the water was... I simply would not lose this plug - it wasnt an option..
Then I took it to Canada with me on a Northern Pike fishing trip like 6 hours north of montreal and lost it to some sort of monster.
It was a fitting end.
