I caught a 35" 25# fish 2 years ago. 40" 30# can definitely happen. He is supporting most of the fishes weight under the gut. So I think it is hard to judge the fishes girth. If he was lipping it, people would have bashed him for holding the fish wrong. Nice fish!

Just for comparison. This fish was caught in June. 39", 28#.

caught a 41" 30.6 # bass last june.....nice fish and story
