My 5.3L get 18mpg hwy...not bad for a truck with over 110K miles.
Put the bad boy on cruise at 70mph and the canal is only 1hr and 15 mins away for me......~ 100 miles
Have not made any trips to the outer cape as I am limiting my fishing mileage to 100 miles one way.

Almost 3000 miles since June @ $3.00 / gallon @ 18mpg
(3000/18)*3 = ~$500
YIKES!!!

I used to oun a Chev 3/4 ton that got an even 10MPG. Plowing snow, 10MPG, towing a 28ft travel-trailer, 10MPG. Empty, 10MPG.
It didn't matter, Highway, 10MPG, city, 10MPG. It was a 350cubic in.punched out to 380cubic inch. It would pull a house off its foundation. But, I still wish I had that truck. It had a 10,000lbs trailering package in it.

Fishing less than half as as much as I used to. Thinking about starting a fishing car pool club.

Fishing more this year than I have in the last 5 years. Keeping within 60 miles of home though. Mostly canal and SoCo. Outer cape doesn't exist in my mind anymore. Probably doing 3 trips/week at $40 per trip for gas and eels. Not too bad, there are worse habits.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Since I got the boat, it cost me a lot less to fish in the Bay than to run to SoCo. Yamaha 4 stroke is amazing on gas. I miss the pounding surf but don't miss the $22 for gas each trip.
