Scup

As someone who grew up fishing pogies/bunker for stripers, I haven't done much in the way with scup ... fished them once and dropped a fish, but that was it ... the charter boats in Montauk for years have been slamming big fish on scup, they are a great bait. The reports in the Long Island edition of the Fisherman highlight great catches on them every week during the season.

Scup work great with or witout the dorsal fin. The one prerequisite is that the pogies need to disappear first.

Chunk them and get a chum slick going, just like pogies or macks.
