Looking for a Few Good Men (or Women)
Busy site stuff day
New Moderators - we are looking for a few volunteers & nominations out of our members for new moderators at S-B. We would like two, three, or maybe even four more people to help out. The moderators we have have done and CONTINUE to do a fantastic job with this site but we have also grown a lot since then too and I would like to see more hands helping out...
What is best in a moderator?
Fairly level headed (might be occasionally abused by into the late evening when some are )
Fair and Open Minded - not delete trigger happy. You don't have to agree with something to let a post stand. It is moderation, not censorship.
Some basic computer skills - if you can type //$Blo > > the same way twice
Works well with others
What do we need in a moderator?
Someone who genuinely enjoys S-B and Fishing
Someone who has been here a couple years and wants to be part of the team doing day to day post moderation - though I would like to see someone relatively new of at least 6 months for a slightly different perspecive.
A person that does not mind spending a few extra minutes over the course of a day keeping an eye on things
Someone that would like to contribute to our community.
Just Plain Good People
What would you do?
You would have the keys to lock or temporarily delete a thread / post that is unacceptable. Edit a post if necessary if something is out of line, and help me and the other moderators steer S-B in the right direction. Yes, I do own S-B, but I just provide the materials - the members AND the Moderatos MAKE it a community
Permenantly Ban users like the jackbutt loser of Labor Day Weekend posting obscene stuff because his mom did not breast feed him enough when he was a child.
You might need to occasionally jump into an argument and ask both sides to return cooly to their corners.
We might even have a vote if there is a long list of volunteers / nominations.

John,
I'm on here often enough during the week and during the day that I'm sure I can help out when most folks aren't around. I ran the old fishing forum on compuserve and curently moderate all of the sections on Noreast.com, so I have a pretty good idea of how to do it.

I'm on every day if you want to pick me, remember, I'm the Bomba who doesn't get in fights.
Well at least not on the computer.

John,
I have only been on here about 1.25 years, work in the computer support field, love to fish and visit here often. I am starting a new job on 9/18, so that may limit what I can do during the day, but I am on here a lot at night, and if you need help I'd like to volunteer.
Pete

it would appear
that the new moderators...
would have to be non politically minded
enough not to take sides....and to just
put out the fire. also when a thread gets
moderated or say closed for what ever reason
and the member simply just starts another to
continue the slaughter they should get temporarilly
told to go home to cool off.
