Thought you guys would like to know that Marc's wife Michelle gave birth yesterday to a baby boy. The little guy was about 6 or 7 weeks premature, so I guess he wanted to be sure he's be ready for the spring schoolies at the West Haven Sand Bar.

Even though he was so premature, from what I hear everyone expects everything to turn out OK. The baby was not yet named when I heard the news, and he weighed 4 pounds and change. He's already taking after his old man Marc, whose string-bean physique tips the scales at a whopping 170 pounds.

Please keep Marc, Michelle, and the new little fisherman in your thoughts and congratulate him when he returns to the board.

Congratulations Mark and Michelle!!! I'm very happy to hear that things are looking up with the little guy and I'll pray for him and for you two. Having also been a recipient of a bouncing baby boy, Liam, 2 months ago, I will advise you when and where I find a Conventional Baitcasting Snoopy Rod ;P.

Again, I hope everyone is and will continue to do well and that you all have a speedy journey home!!

We had a couple scares that night and things got pretty rough. When he FINALLY started to cry and they held so I could really see him (they hadn't even said boy or girl, things were tense), I did... Now I just sleep real bad at 2am...

I cried when Matt was born. He was gray and not crying after a difficult birth. When we heard the first faint little cry after the team at Yale had been taking care of him (which was about a minute or less but seemed like hours) my wife and I both lost it. Now I can't get him to be quiet! John S can attest to that.

Rich, I know what you mean. Alot of complications. I really don't want to go through that again. But now he is fine and also just can't stop making noise :P

Marc, you and your wife (at least when you've had a decent amount of sleep) will marvel at your baby as he grows and does different things. For example, just yesterday, my son finally figured out was his legs are for. I would put his feet on my lap and start to pick him up and he would push off his legs as if to jump. He was getting a big kick out of it for twenty minutes until he got tired and wanted to eat... I couldn't help hime there so I dished him off to my wife 8)

I admit I cried when my first girl, Ashley, was born. And a bit when Alexandria came aboard. That's a good thing.

But honestly, I cry everyday for our little angel. When I see or experience something beautiful, maybe a sunset or rise over Long Island Sound while fishing, or when I'm skiing and the wind howls and chases the clouds across the mountain tops, or, on a quiet ride to work in the morning when I cross the Farmington River, and the cold crisp air throws fog rolling down the valley, I think of him. He is the sunset, the sunrise, the wind, the cold crisp air.

Marc, congratulations on the new arrival.

John, I welled up but I didn't cry when my daughter was born--but, if I'm still around, I'll certainly cry when I walk her down the aisle to give her away. When my son came along, I felt like an old pro at the birth, no tears either. I wasn't sure at the time whether I wanted a son or another girl, but almost 8 years later, I'm glad I was blessed with one of each.

Gary, everytime I drive up to moms and cross the river, I look out toward's Ryan's Rock and my eyes just water. Those of us who cried with you during that time will never forget how Ryan touched our lives.

Gary, me too. I have never visited Ryan's Rock in the flesh but I have been there many nights since in my mind. I think he has a star of his own too as even to this day when I'm out along the shore I look up there and think about him. Your family and Ryan will always be in our minds and hearts.

Thanks a lot guys,
I finally got a minute to check in here after living at the hospital for a good week. Mom is home now and Logan is doing fine in the newborn ICU. He should be home in 1-2 weeks if all goes well.
It was a bit scary for a few days there, but I now have a huge smile on my face!
Even though he came in under the limit at 16" and 4lbs 11oz, were keeping him!

The good thing about him being early is that now we will be in a nice routine come spring time.

The late nights might not end, but the sleep the next morning might.

You had to rub that "routine" or lack of thing in my face twice huh??? I guess I'm really in for it when he gets home, but at this point I can't wait to hear a cry in the middle of the night and lose lots of sleep and all of those other things.

It really is worth it as you'll see. Events like the first smile and the first time you change him without putting a diaper over the unit during a change :P (there is one spot on the wall behind the bassonette that is just always getting cleaned)... Just wait til he has his first big formula soiled diaper. It's really nasty :P but it's really worth it with these little guys. The biggest thing that irked me was how little I can help. My wife needs to feeds the baby (although were are now switching him slowly to bottle and formula) ... Just not as much for me to do but make goofy faces to stop the crying. I had to stop partway through writing this as he let out a big hunger scream...
