i use flat waxed monocord- it lies flat, its strong, and because its waxed it holds inplace better while making tight wraps on large clumps of bucktail (or synthetics) i've tried the floss thing and imo it frayed to much

Yeah its great stuff. I use it for a of things, recently sewed up a tear in an old backpack with it while away from home. I use the waxed floss, tougher to use but always felt it would hold up better.

Use Zircon encrusted tweezers. BTW there is a nice little article in Yankee Mag. on a glassblower.

Have used that in the past. Only problem is that it has a tendancy to cut the bucktail when you torque down on it.
