Saw the shuttle on Saturday night from Neds Point in Mattapoisett. It was great -clear cold night watched it for about 35 seconds . Bright yellow flame about 25 degrees above the horizon west to east lost it in the lights of Falmouth.
I think it would have been a difficult pickup unless you were close to the coast or had a very dark southern sky. It was pretty hazy up to about 30 deg above the horizon as well.
