That Yamaha that I bought when you got your is now dead, Oil pump let go and motor had a piston melt down

I have a 89 Evinrude now, but have not been able to give it enough time to make me comfy.

Bruce that's an okay bayboat for B-Harbor and such but I think you would be better suited with an 18 or 21 foot Parker, especially if you have plans of going to fish Cuttyhunk or plug along the Elizabeths and outside Monomoy. My dream boat would be a 180C Parker. Two guys, perfect. Very stable, little hard on the ride but Stability and deep high gunnels. Add a rip tide electric motor up front, man sweet living.

Probably won't be buying for another 2 or 3 years.

When I do, I think I am getting a Shamrock Mackinaw pilot house. Who knows how I will feel in a few years though.

why does it list draft twice with one saying 3' somthing and the other 26" or somthing.

ps .bought my new boat in august. so its pretty much new for next year.

agreed, outside monomoy in the rips I could think of a bunch of better boats for it. Even in nantucket sound, short chop with a SW wind would eat that thing up like it was nothing...

ok, maybe I'll forget about a bayboat
maybe I'll make a stitch and glue 19 foot center console, only problem is the higher the freeboard, the harder to use a trolling motor upfront. Maybe alluminum is the way to go. I'll keep dreaming and thinking about making plugs and stick to shore fishing.

think you'll find they make a few styles when it comes to the bottom ..one is tunnel drive..the other is straight inboard shaft with bronze rudder......tunnel would be the 26"....the 3' is the straight shaft.

If I needed a boat on short money, I'd look for a used 16 ft Whaler. Slow down and it will get you home in anything. You won't be going after tuna or heading to Old Man's in it, but for nearshore bass fishing and easy towing it is hard to beat. Very stable, safe, and cheap to run.

I had a bay boat about the size couple feet shorter, than one you linked, 18ft polar . same layout. good for two people.... thats it.... if you buddy has a buddy that wants to come along it gets tight running around. See how the cooler seat is real close to the CC? thats a problem as well.... standing is uncomfortable unless you spread your feet outside the sides of the console. The back casting platform in theory is a good idea....but id rather have the space to run around when a fish is on.... sounds silly but the 19 ft twin vee baycat i bought 3 months later solved all that. don't have to worry about to high freeboard either, its low.... id recommend checking them out if you are serious about getting a bay boat any time soon.. best ride ive ever had.

Once I migrate out west to southern cali I plan to get a boat out there. I'd love a big cat boat with a cuddy or something with an inboard diesel that I could cruise with. Something at least 27'. There is only one small problem with my grand plan... I have NO idea where this money is going to come from... In reality i'll end up with a kayak and a nice wooden paddle... but a man can dream can't he...

Someday when I grow up I may upgrade to a 25 Parker CC or a 26 Albin. I'm also looking at some of the larger Grady's. I may have to rob a bank or sell my sole to buy it though.

I'm thinking of moving up from my McKee Craft 196 for next year.

However, I'm confused as to whether I should go with a center console in the 23-25' range or a 23' pilot house like a Parker or a Steiger Craft.

Best thing I ever did was buy my boat at the boatshow last year....I am already looking for bigger but, not by much.. Overall Numbskull is right, My boat is a 16 center console and I go any place I want with it and its a snap to trailer, handles some rough water also, I am happy with my purchase but I can see this sickness of constantly wanting a new one is just the start.........

Slip I'm already looking at bay boats, divorce is final and I can finally be safe to buy and know it's mine. I'm torn between buying a bayboat or a center console like a Key Largo and fitting it out with a trolling motor. If a bay it would be similar to that one listed (never seen it before any feedback or history?), a Scout or something from Champion or Skeeter. I liked the Polar center consoles I saw at last years boat shows, but I don't like the 15 degree deadrise, not even an improvement over my old Lund in the dead rise department anyway. The Scout 240 or 220 bay have a 16 degree, but if I go with a simple open layout like the 210 Key Largo, I get a 17 degree deadrise and it looks like I could retro that to work with a trolling motor.

I might even travel to a southern (NY has one) boat show to see the Scout bay boat, but I'm still on the fence on bay or retro center console. Steve do you really think it feasible, or do you know of people who have set up the Parkers with trolling motors? I'd be very interested in feedback on that, as I love the Parker hulls, but they always looked far to high at the bow to be able to efficiently set up a trolling motor; even a long shaft model.

I am thinking of selling the 18' Kencraft, and moving up to a 23 Proline. The wife wants a head on the boat, and the softer ride would be better for her and the baby. It also does'nt hurt that I could fish the FLW if I wanted to.

So if anyone is interested in a used boat, that was totally rewired, and new electronics send me a pm..

My McKee Craft 196 may be the perfect compromise for you. It has 18 degrees of transom deadrise and comes pre-wired for a bow mount trolling motor; just add batteries.

So many boats look good, I wish I could test ride them all before making a choice, but I'm going to have too look at this boat for sure. I wasn't excited about trying to retrfit a std center console to work with a trolling motor, now the next question would be were you can put the 3 batterys for a 36V trolling motor?
