I can't argue with what most of you think about the drag...but I will say that for me being a newer surfcaster, hearing that drag rip adds a little more to the experience. What's concerning most to me is that it broke in the first place after what I considered to be very little use.

The screw that holds it in doesn't go very deep. I've seen others fail before.

If the person who assembled your reel wasn't careful they may not have put the screw in fully or used loctite. I wouldn't worry about it.
