hi jeff, i've got a red abu 6500, i think it is a "trophy" series. straight out of the box no modifications - very smooth, handles large from the boat w/ no problems. it's a great fluke reel too. see you in the spring, paul

In the smaller sizes, 6000s and 5000s are bushing reels. Ball bearing reels are 6500s, 6600s, 5500s, etc.

x500 reels have push button free spool. x600 reels have a thumb bar.

Reels with C3, C4, CL and CS all have level winds. A reel without one will have CT as part of the model number.

That's about as simple as one can make it.
