bloo - it was nice to see that fish caught on a quality lure made by a local guy. you go ahead and fish a mambo and let me know if you'd even get that fish in. i'm surprised that fish even fell for a lure. doesn't happen too much.

Just found out the IRON MAN MIKE, was fishing in NEWPORT friday night with a few friends when they were hit by a big wave, they got bang up pretty good , one with a cracked knee cap , cuts and bruises lost plug bag and a broken rod torn waders. THEY ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. BE careful out there.. I will find out how the iron man is today.

Over the Last Several Years HAB'S NEEDLEFISH Have Caught More "Confirmed" 30, 40, 50, and even 60 pound Striped Bass than any other Wooden Needlefish on the Market today. 2 Over 50lbs. and 1 Over 60lbs. in 2005 alone........... "HOOK UP WITH HAB'S" Your Best Bet For BIG BASS.....

Wow, glad to hear everyone came out of the wash. There is nothing soft about the Newport coastline. I'd count them lucky with just cuts/bruises and lost tackle. Were they in the process of landing a fish or was it just a huge rogue wave. Korkers don't help when that happens.

Surfcaster seeking 25 pounder. Someone HELP!

John - tell them we hope they get better soon....

It sucks when a wave really kicks the living bleep out of you... It would really suck to have it sweep you away or put you under.

Yes, good thing they made it out of there with their lives. That's a close one. I hope they aren't too broken up and recover well.

...you mean to tell me Iron Mike couldn't KUSS his way out of it???...

...1 - 2 - 3 ...count your blessings!!

I think I take things for granted sometimes.. while out on the surf. Because I don't always hear of fishing "accidents", whether fatal or not, too often...I think as long as I'm on solid ground (rock)...I got nothing to worry about. SO NOT TRUE! !!! Rhody Rocks ...in more than one way /

Its just like a car or plane accident. When you hear about it, it stays fresh in your mind...and because they DO happen often, (car accidents anyways)...you tend to think about being careful while out on the road...but with fishing accidents, because I don't hear of many...3-4 days later, I forget....

The Newport area has one of the most treacherous coastlines that I've (personally) ever fished. I'm sure there's worse...I just haven't fished them yet . My problem is, when I'm in the zone...I don't think about any other variables other than luring the fish to strike... MY BAD...

...Get Well Soon - fellas....

UPDATE on the gang

Talked to one of the guys that was out there (Chris) and also saw The Iron Man yesterday at The Edge (saltwater).

Dave (Chris' brother), the worst off was just put in a cast from his crotch to his ankle. Broken knee cap and he is laid up for quite some time. His new Arra 1205 snapped like a toothpick and ripped some guides off it. His brand new VanStall Sivler 250 is destoyed. At the moment it is unusable and they are sending it back to VS in hopes of repair. Total gear damage $700 dollar custom rod, $600 dollar reel, both down the crapper!

Iron Mike had some cuts on his hands and forearms. He has the biggest bruise I think I have ever seen. It starts from right above his left knee and goes up to his waist. It's not black and blue, its BLACK and NASTY! He's limping around, but he says he is still fishing. Although I can tell he's not 100% yet. I had to walk across the street for him to get him his medication / blood thinners to prevent blood clots. NOTHING LIKE A 12 PACK OF BUD!

WOW & WOW!

WOW -- Great fish and congratulations!

WOW -- Congratulations you survived!

Sounds like we need an Alliance meeting and some blooberry nectar to help heal the wounds.
