I second the vise grip pliers rig. I made one and it is necessary for saltwater big hooks or tieing 3 to 5 ounce canal jigs. It holds the hook without slippage and allows you to really tir tight without the jig twisting. Have a 3/8" rod welded to the pliers and it will fit your existing clamp setup. GREAT IDEA!!! I have an expensive Regal cam action flytying vise that would never open wide enough to hold a real hook, frustrated me for years until I finally wrenched the lever further than it was supposed to go to see what would happen....................and ruined it.
I've been looking for something better for 2 years now. Your idea just saved me the price of a fancyass Renzetti!
