New venture About to Begin......

Thought I might share this with the board.

Im in the process of begining a small home improvment buisness.I just placed ads in a few of the local newspapers and Im exited about getting that first call!

For now most of the work will be in the afternoons and weekends until my daughter heads off to school In one short year!

I will also have my father in tow and he is one heck of a carpenter and can do anything from custom cabinets to kitchen Islands built in desks..ETC.......

If anyone here knows of someone needing any work, shoot me an email. We will be doing,Decks, sheds,Hanging doors, installing sinks, toilets, molding work..finishing basements.etc...

Good Luck Bill. One thing you might do is let the area home builders know you are available. I once worked for a general contractor and we had a hard time finding people to do things like installing the vents over kitchen stoves or putting in ceiling fans , etc. Setting up forms for the masons to pour handicap walkways , etc was also something hard to find people to do. You learn the tricks like the proper slope for a handicap ramp and pretty soon , the word spreads and you got a little nich. Anyway , hope it works out for you.

Best of luck Bill!

How far are you willing to travel? We will probably be seeking quotes on a deck, possibly a desk with bookshelves running the length of our den sometime in the near future.

Not sure what we're doing yet, but let me know your range.

Again, best of luck... You'll be working for the best boss there is... yourself. Of course, who else would put up with you

Just kidding, of course...

Travelling range that is... obviously, you'd have to know just a little bit more info before giving me a price range.

Later.

Best of luck with your new venture Bill, if you ever need any advice don't hesitate to ask. I started off working for myself many years ago, started with side jobs and then went full time self employed in 1986. I could never get a regular job now, I love it. I do have to put in long hours at times but the rewards are worth the sacrifices.

Just remember that eventually you will find in that business that word of mouth is great for new business. There is no replacement for a satisfied customer who is willing to give your name out or hire you again in the future. If your dad knows alot of that then I'm sure you do well. I always wanted my uncle to work with me later in his life as I worked with him earlier in my life but it never happened due to his passing on at 54. This is a good time of year to have placed that ad also.
