I don't fish eels but I would suggest that you check out the rainshadow SW1087. I have one and I use it for light plugging from the beach. 3oz is tops for it in my opinion and I fish an open sandy beach so I do not have to muscle fish around structure. I prefer it to the SW 1088. It is definately worth a look.
