In search of an Old Salt

I got assigned this Profile paper at school(URI) and I am supposed to interview someone of interest that is not a good friend or family member. I want to write it on someone that has fished the back a lot in the good old days and sold fish. I need specific interesting stories and such. I figured I would post this here to see if there was anyone in Southern RI that has been fishing the surf for many years and sold fish. This would be a huge help for me and probably only take 45mins at the most. Thanks

I'm not an old salt by any means at 37. I was just very fortunate to be able to learn from a lot of high liners at a young age. I spent many summers selling fish while in high school and college.Mostly fished the back from 1985 through 2000, both surf and boat. Clammer or Piemma are the best authorities here.

I second that, please.

ya that,s what I was thinking ><><><<>

But there are some GREAT ones >>>>>>>>> if he posted after //I,d probably be in f #$%^&*()( jail again //

Paul,s gonna tell him about the red hot stripers days & the killings that were made

I {MAY} have told him about all the Other s#$%^& that was done // mostly illegal & alot of it doesn,t have any Stripers in it ;;
The F #$%^&*() kid would either get a [A} & have it published or get f #$%^&*() thrown out of URI >>>>>>>>> & that takes alot ><><><

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!

I will definetly post the paper when done if it is ok with paul and anyone else I interview. Its for a writing class and not a fishing class so I have to try and make interesting to people that don't fish. My teacher may not understand the signfigance of a 1000lb night but they will understand the comradery(sp?) and rivalries that were involved with the commercial surf guys. I am hoping paul will give me some insight to these type of things, but regardless I am a surf fisherman so there will be some good fishing dialouge either way. I will keep you guys updated.

The commeraderies/rivals/freindships were what it was all about. There was never a place that attracted so many people from so many places. Montauk is mostly New Yorkers, Jersey is Jersey guys,CT is ct guys, so forth and so on. The cape was a collection of guys from all these places combined. Many rabid fishermen looking to cash in. Mix those guys all in with the locals from the cape, and it could be interesting.
