South American fishing fun.....

I caught a couple of shows this weekend on TV that highlighted fishing for Golden Dorado down in Argentina.
Picture a fish that has a similar shape to a salmon, but the attitude of a bluefish. These monsters have the jaw strength to bend treble hooks closed. They showed some of the tackle used to catch these things, and if the lure wasn't solid with tuna/shark strength hooks/splitrings/swivels, it would crush, chop or shred the lure and ruin the temnimal tackle.
These things have interlocking teeth that look like a hacksaw.
Real nasty looking, but man, are they aggressive!

Saw that too, "The Hunt For Big Fish". It was nearly every cast at one point. I was surprised at how fast the water was moving yet the fish were still holding there.

Standing on the water, casting your bread
While the eyes of the idol with the iron head are glowing
Distant ships sailing into the mist
You were born with a snake in both of your fists while a hurricane was blowing

I just checked the schedule for VERSUS, and the show " The Hunt for Big Fish with larry Dahlberg" featuring the Golden Dorado episode will be repeated on 3/28, 3/29 & 3/31. It's on late morning on each day, between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm. Better fire up the Tivo !

Saw that show , like linesider said to see the current these fish are holding in was incredible. It was funny to see the look on L.D'S face when one of these monsters took the plug.

If you liked the Peacock Bass fishing, you'll love the Golden Dorado.
