Plug Hysteria.......
......is at an all time hight now. One example: http://cgi.ebay.com/BEACHMASTER-NEED...QQcmdZViewItem
Based on auctions like this I'll be heading into the surf with 2000 bucks in my bag. I'm going to have to start carrying some protection

I find myself amazed confused and a little put off by the prices people are paying for plugs right now.
I am also thinking about maybe putting some Beachmasters up for auction myself

Interesting... Maybe guys are unloading them because other builders are starting to make that type needle. The market will have plenty available in the near future.

You can probably walk into a certain shop in SE Mass right now and pay the same
It wasn't too long ago you could walk into about 6 different shops on LI and buy all the Beachmasters you wanted, for under $20 a plug. I remember paying 2 for $25 at a show for his Atom Jrs.

Same buyer (tmtmv) we saw in the Mac thread a few weeks ago.
Perhaps they're just laundering money?
Also, why would Beachmaster paint and finish the plug before drilling the eye holes? The mark that's there is just the point of the forstner bit. Actually, does that plug even look like it has the thick clear coat.
Looking at ebay for recent Beachmasters, most are going for market value. 90% of those sold by this seller were won by the same buyer who only bought one other plug. Makes little sense to me.

If we're thinking of the same shop they've been out of the needles for a few months and I could see not being able to get them again for a reasonable price unless they do another run a couple years down the line.

This guy could be bidding up the price of selected plugs in order to unload his own stash. Its done in the stock market frequently. He could be bidding big money for one lure, and then unloading his stash of like lures for 300-400 percent above his purchase price. Here's how it works: You buy a bunch for 20, then bid 200, thus creating a market at 200. When the bid hits 200, you unload the stuff you paid 20 for at 100-150, maybe even 200.

tmtmv's bidding history is ridiculous.

You're right. I just stopped in there on my way back from Dartmouth. Just a handful of Atom Jrs on the rack
He is taking orders, with a deposit, on Dannys for a June delivery.
I have a couple of still in the package needles. Maybe I should list them on fleece bay and see if they bring me enough to score 10 Habs

Doubt it, it doesn't appear that the average buyer is paying any more than a reasonable market price

I don't know but I have a yellow one like that straight from the man himself so it's legit. I got it before the recent (2 or 3 years ago) batch of needles hit the market, so it could be that it's older or a test needle.
