Should do the trick for a while. You could handle a 30# fish if you work it right. It will certianly handle 98% of the fish you'll catch in the bay. Don't think I would Cod fish with it though.
Have you tried the "wall" off Narragansett Parkway? I've never fished it but people do fish it, if you go out on the incoming plan on spending some time waiting till the water drops.
