Guess they must be paying some attention as they lowered the minimum size of boats to 18' that would open this up for alot more people.

A fellow handed me a flyer on this at the show....I still don't "get" slot contests, what is the point? It seems like too much luck is introduced to me. The idea is to catch the heaveiest fish not exceeding 34" length? (or something like that) IMO this is not really a contest but more of a raffle because who catches the fatest 34 fish is pretty random. I must be missing something.

You wound not have wanted to be in an 18 ft boat down in Virginia on the friday of the championship last december !!!

I was with you on this when I first heard of slot tournaments, but somebody explained it to me and it made a bit of sense. In a slot tournament, you have to catch ALOT of fish, and then weed through them to find the fattest. Measures your ability to go out and put up big numbers of fish (without just offloading a fishbox full). The thought is that with regular tournaments, one random big fish can basically end it. It is supposed to take a bit of the luck factor out of it, as you can't just have someone hit the one big fish of their life and win the whole tournament.

I don't know if that's the better way to run a tourney, but at least I understand why a bit now.

And you have to keep the fish alive as well, which is nice to see them thrown back. I like the idea of the slot limit. I think it increases how hard you'll actually fish. More pressure.

i wanted to enter last year for the boston leg but knowwwwwww my 18' parker was not seaworthy (in there opinion) , now this year they are going to allow those unseaworthy 18' boats , and now this year there is no boston leg .

i will most likely enter this year ........ if i can talk a certain person into entering with me. oke: I like the idea of a slot limit. Pedro you in for this?
