I finished Surfcaster's Quest in about 2 days worth of train commute to work - definitely not a long read but still a very good read... I would probably have said great if not for the high perch he places himself upon regarding his fishing methods being the most pristine form of fishing, everyone else being second rate at best. He seems to have missed the boat on the universal joy extracted from many different forms of saltwater fishing...

He does do a fantastic job of translating the inner feelings of a surfcaster to the written word. Something I'll never be capable of. Rowan's communicating the experience allowed the true surfcaster over more general fishing methods is different and in a way nicer than Frank's "I'd rather have a sister in a whorehouse than a brother in a boat" mentality. 'Course, both have their place
