I also rinse mine with rain, or better yet keep them in the water longer and they'll be exposed to less oxygen

I agree w/ TT.


The probable reason for the hook rusting is that the finish of the hook has micro scratches from the bass's mouth.
The micro scratches (broken finish) are then exposed to air.

Rinse gear with fresh water.
